Te reo Māori classes will continue at Unitec

Free Te reo Māori evening classes offered by Unitec will not be affected by the polytechnic’s financial strife.

A Unitec representative told Te Waha Nui it would continue to deliver the Kura Po courses which received government support under the Adult and Community Education Fund.

The ACE fund provides educational services to the community, according to the Tertiary Education Commission website.

The government has offered Unitec a $50 million loan after it was revealed that the institution was expected make deficits to the tune of $100 million over four years.
