Concert-goers were disappointed after young rapper Yiko had to shut down his recent central Auckland concert due to chaotic behaviour by a teenage crowd.

A collective of young rap artists performed at Auckland Council's Ellen Melville Centre in a show that got out of hand, but are already planning a second show.

George Smith, aka Yiko, said only 50 tickets had been sold in advance but there were more than 400 young people at the sold-out concert in the Auckland CBD.

There were only four people responsible for managing the crowd in the small Ellen Melville hall, said Mr Smith.

"The room wasn't huge, and it was starting to get hot staying inside, so people were constantly coming and going to get some air."

Concertgoer Emma Moriarty said she didn't understand why the concert had to be ended early because everyone was having such a good time.

"There was no danger to anyone, so I don't see why it had to be shut down."

Mr Smith said he and the other young rap artists decided to put everything into what they thought would be their last performances of the night.

Despite the concert being shut down, he said he had no plans to slow his music down, especially after the atmosphere he experienced during this concert.

A week after the concert, Mr Smith and Mr Tehrani have announced plans to host another show on May 4.
