Tiki Taka win East City Futsal Championship, end Slavica's two-year title reign

Tiki Taka have been crowned Winter East City Futsal champions after they came from behind to beat defending champions Slavica, 3-2.

Second half goals from Auckland City FC stars Alfie Rogers and Fabrizio Tavano Alonso ended Slavica’s two-year dominance over the title.

Tiki Taka came into the final boasting the tournament’s best defence, having conceded only eight goals all tournament.

Slavica couldn’t have asked for a better start, taking the lead in the first five minutes.

The defending champions continued to dominate possession and create chances throughout the first half leaving Tiki Taka on the back foot.

More salt was added on the wounds for Tiki Taka after top-scorer Eduardo Espinosa doubled Slavica’s lead just before the break.

Things changed for Tiki Taka after the interval after they tweaked their tactics.

The Alfie Rogers led side began to look more expansive and threatening on the break which began to pile pressure on Slavica.

Tiki Taka’s persistence finally paid off when top scorer Alfie Rogers netted a fine volley to get give his side a chance to get back into the game.

At the other end of the pitch, Tiki Taka showed why they were the best defensive side having managed to keep Slavica at bay.

The last 10 minutes were frantic for both sides but it was Tiki Taka who took advantage of Slavica’s lapse defending.

Goalscorer Alfie Rogers scored his second to level things up for Tiki Taka before Fabrizio Tavano Alonso cut in on his left to slide home the winner.

After the victory Rogers said: “It felt good to get the win. We were persistent in the second half and it paid off.”

Victory seemed sweeter for Tiki Taka this time after they finally managed to avenge their last two final defeats to guess who? Slavica.

Slavica’s top scorer Eduardo Espinosa bagged the Golden Boot title after he finished the campaign with a mammoth 31 goals averaging about 3 goals a game.
