Magnet technology is breaking into the arena of extreme sports, with a world first based out of New Zealand.
Founder of “earSHOTS” James Bell-Booth has created the world’s first magnet-driven headphones that have been designed to change the way extreme athletes listen to music.
Magnets within earSHOTS restrict the ability for headphones to fall out during extreme sports such as mountain biking, or skiing.
The New Zealand based company has attracted a number of famous mountain bikers including the likes of Sam Blenkinsop, Bryn Dickerson and Ruby Ryan.
All of these athletes compete at the top level and say earSHOTS has revolutionised the sport they love.
James Bell-Booth birthed the idea from a trail race called T42 based out of New Zealand’s Tongariro.
His headphones kept falling out and he decided a new design for headphones in extreme sports was needed.
Last year, EarSHOTS was recognised as a finalist in the Design Institute of New Zealand’s best design awards.
Booth says “nice to feel like the nights spent at my kitchen table, tinkering in the garage and out of the trails has been recognised by a community of amazing designers”
The New Zealand company now ships its product worldwide, and expects to attract more high-level athletes in the near future.
