A sister drum and bass DJ duo have quickly found success in the past year, setting their sights on upcoming shows.
‘Skytri’ was created last year by sisters Jasmin Bull, 23, and Frankie Bull, 20, and they have played in lineups alongside some big names in the DJ industry including Phibes, Fox Stevenson, and Kove.
After starting to mix last year, the duo has played over 10 shows across Auckland at various bars and are local DJs at Pointers.
They specialise in the drum and bass genre but they have also played house music and other electronic sub-genres.
“I’m honestly really grateful to have that support by my side during a set and we work really well together,” says Frankie Bull.
Jasmin Bull says they are usually the only females in line-ups, but being a duo with her sister has made them closer and they can deal with challenges together.
“For me, anxiety is bigger when you’re a female in a male-dominated industry, whether you’re good or not. You just have to be confident within yourself and the music you play.
“As a female, I just want to be amazing in order to represent us girls. Girls should feel like they are able to do it."
Skytri’s next gig is on May 5 at Pointers where they will be supporting UK DJ Ed Solo.
The bar will be transformed into a jungle to reflect the jungle drum and bass sub-genre that will be played on the night.
