'Shock jocks': funny or too far?

The increasingly outrageous activity of New Zealand 'shock jocks' has failed to shock many listeners.

George FM radio host Thane Kirby’s interview with The Bachelor finalist this week sparked controversy, with many calling it disgusting.

On Wednesday, Mr Kirby grilled Naz Khanjani about the details of her physical relationship with star Jordan Mauger during their time on the show.

The host has previously drawn flak for his actions, including ‘slut-shaming’ young girls on air, with co-host Kara Rickard.

The incident follows a spate of risqúe segments broadcast by national radio stations, which have been slammed by listeners in the past year.

These include The Edge's recent naked dinner, which was broadcast on Story and featured a woman in full-frontal nudity.

Te Waha Nui talked to people in the Auckland CBD to gauge their reaction to such 'shock jock' segments and found many saw it as humorous and “good listening”.

However, some were offended by the controversial comments and activity that had been broadcast.
