PHOTO ESSAY: Student journalist Trent Taai was at Polyfest, where his old school was defending its title on the Samoan stage.

The Sacred Heart College Samoan group delivered another powerful performance at this year’s ASB Polyfest.

The group was defending its 2025 title and reached third on the Samoan stage this year.

First place went to Dilworth College while St Peters College was second.

Backstage, Sacred Heart students and teachers put on their traditional attire before sharing a prayer.

As they stepped onto the stage, they captured the attention of a packed-out crowd and showcased their culture through their dance and singing.

While the crowd erupted with loud cheers, every action told a story of identity and cultural significance.

Every lyric honoured the history of older generations, stories of the past, and longing for home.

As they exited the stage, their smiles and laughter showed a sense of achievement after six weeks of preparation.

This was more than just a performance, it was about representing Samoa and honouring their culture in front of their community.
