Neighbourly announce new marketplace for users

Changes at Neighbourly will provide users with a buy, sell and swap service separate from its interactive community information service.

Heath Sadlier, head of product at Neighbourly, says Neighbourly Market will keep users' main feeds free from items for sale.

He says some people just use Neighbourly for buying and selling because they know they’re trading with trusted people.

“When their cat gets lost or there’s a community issue, it can kind of get lost between all the posts of people selling stuff,” he says.

Elesha Gordon, community engagement manager at Neighbourly, says trading on the site has become more popular than they expected.

“It is a great way for neighbours to meet one another face to face, which is why we created Neighbourly in the first place,” she says.

Mr Sadlier says creating Neighbourly Market is the biggest change they’ve made to the site since it started.

Previously, some users reported receiving emails from Neighbourly asking them to condense their selling posts into one, and not clog people’s feeds.

Felicity Buche, is a regular user of the site and enjoys giving her unwanted items away.

She says she was confused over the email she received.

Neighbourly hope the new Market addition will clear up any confusion and allow users to have the best of both worlds on the site.
