AUT students have an extra week to throw their hats in the ring for the AuSM Student Representative Council member elections.

AuSM President Urshula Ansell says there are a couple of reasons for the change. “The first is the lack of engagement in a few of the roles like Culture and Society Faculty representative, Te Ara Poutama Faculty representative and Disabilities Affairs Officer.

“The second is around the time of year it is, as everyone has assessments due and midyear exams before the break.”

Just over 50 people have shown interest in the elections, but less than half have completed the form, Ansell says the extended deadline now gives them the opportunity to do so.

“I really do encourage more students to have a look into becoming an SRC member and they can find more information on our website under representation and I am also happy to answer any questions on urshula.ansell@aut.ac.nz

Nominations close September 1 and candidates are required to submit their nomination online.
